I think I might know what causes that and my fault for not being clear - the Categorical distribution at the heart of all of this requires the observed data to be 0, 1, … K. In the above data I subtracted 1 from the observed responses and put it in the dataframe as ‘y’. Force of habit at this point! Try subtracting one from the data that go into observed.
