Late to this post, but this recent (2021) preprint seeks to extend the literature on modeling multivariate Beta distributions and is quite similar to the approach taken by Arnold and Ng. Specifically, section 2.4 discusses ways to constrain parameters to “enable unambiguous parameter inference”. You may find it helpful:
