Aargh I understood. The predictive values for the prior predictive are not drawn from the prior (a Normal(0,2), but from the likelihood, in which a draw from the prior for mu is plugged in. So in rare cases, such a drawn mu can be quite far away from 0, and this is then the basis for the complete draw of 1000 samples.
