No. The sampler will simply be unhappy with some combinations of model and data. “Number of groups” isn’t a general attribute of models that makes sampling more/less difficult. FYI. if you should ever have to crank target_accept up beyond 0.9 or so, your model probably needs to be reparameterized (or you have made a mistake).
