I think you should care because if you are ok with the inference making use of the entire time series, you may be able to simplify the model and reduce inference time. I haven’t gone through your code in detail so hopefully this isn’t too far off base, but check out this notebook here, in which I fit a local level and local linear trend model on the nile data without using scan.
