Arviz HDI default 94%, any reason?

I’m currently working on a manuscript where PyMC and Arviz were heavily used for the analysis. I typically tend to stick to default values where possible, hence my HDIs are all 94%. Though co-authors, who are more familiar with 95% confidence intervals, are often asking me if there is a specific reason for that default of 94%.

Now I got curious as well  Anyone knows where this default value comes from?

It’s a cheeky way to remind you that β€œ95%” was an arbitrary historical fluke arising from a certain species of Devonian fish crawing out of primordial oceans with five bones in its fins, and to not ascribe any special statistical meaning to it.
