GSoC 2026: Interested in Contributing to PyMC

Hi PyMC Community!

I’m preparing for GSoC 2026 and very interested in contributing to PyMC. I have a background in Python, machine learning fundamentals, and recently started contributing to open source (2 merged PRs in Aeon, a NumFOCUS time series library).

**My Background:** - Python (NumPy, Pandas, basic ML) - Full-stack development (React, Node.js, Flask) - Familiar with Git workflows and code reviews - Currently learning Bayesian statistics through PyMC documentation

**What I’m Looking For:** 1. Which PyMC GSoC 2026 project ideas are still available/need contributors? 2. What’s the best way to start contributing - should I focus on: - pymc-examples notebook improvements? - Bug fixes in main PyMC library? - Documentation improvements? 3. Are there any beginner-friendly issues I can tackle this week?

**My Goal:** Make 2-3 meaningful contributions before applications open (March 24) and write a strong proposal for a PyMC GSoC project.

I’d love guidance on how to best contribute and which project area would benefit most from a new contributor. Looking forward to being part of the community! GitHub: Varshinibhargav-17
