Introduction: Interested to contribute to PyMC in GSoC 2026

Good Day everyone,

My name is Adishree Bharadwaj, and I’m a second-year Computer Science student from India. I’m very interested in contributing to PyMC and plan to apply to GSoC this year.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been focusing on building a solid understanding of Bayesian modelling concepts (priors, likelihoods, generative models, latent vs observed variables, etc.) and working through PyMC examples to understand why modelling choices are made, not just how to run them.

I’ve:

  • Set up PyMC locally and gone through the documentation and examples

  • Built a few small models (Bernoulli/Binomial, Normal mean inference)

  • Started reading through PyMC source code and open issues

I’d love guidance on:

  1. Beginner-friendly issues or areas where documentation/examples could be improved

  2. Any advice on what PyMC mentors generally look for in early contributions

I’m excited to learn and contribute meaningfully, and I appreciate any pointers or suggestions.

Thank you!
