Hello maintainers, I am Aarsh Wankar, a second-year Bachelor’s student in Computer Science at IIT Gandhinagar, India. I am interested in contributing to PyMC under GSoC. I have some knowledge of how pytensor works, and have made a few small PRs. I am ready to learn everything else necessary. How do I get in touch with you?
Hi Aarsh! Please take a look at the project list and identify one that you would want to work on. We can then put you in touch with the mentor and then you would put together a short proposal for evaluation.
Thank you for the reminder!
Over the past few weeks, I have been studying the source code of both PyTensor and PyMC. Here is the Discourse post where I expressed my interest in participating in GSoC 2025, specifically in the project focused on implementing new state-space models.
I am currently finalizing my application proposal and refining an initial draft implementation, which can be found in this draft PR.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or feedback.
Thank you in advance!
Hello maintainers! I am Abhinav Khot, a sophomore at the Indian Institute of Technology at Gandhinagar. I am interested to contribute to Pytensor for the Linear algebra rewrites project. I have current made a few PRs to Pytensor. I would be willing to learn the necessary concepts along the way. Could you get me in touch with the guides for this project?
Hello All,
My name is Adhvaith Hundi and I am a current third year in NITK Surathkal studying a degree in computational data science. I have made a few contributions to the pytensor repository here. I would love to work on this terms GSOC and am planning a proposal.
Thank you!!
Welcome, Adhvaith! As I’m sure you are aware there is not a lot of time to get a proposal together, but you are welcome to submit one. The deadline is 18:00 UTC tomorrow (see the GSoC website for details). Which project are you writing the proposal for? If you have a draft ready, we would be happy to take a look at it.
I am currently writing a proposal for the project Linear algebra rewrites and I will submit a draft soon(next hr or so). Sorry but I was late to see the new projects that have been put up, I will try my best to get the proposal ready.
Is there any specific format we have to follow? I am using latex.
Also can I get the mail of my mentors so that I can add them privately or should I keep access public? (Edit : Nvm I have started a new conversation, please take a look.)
Thanks @fonnesbeck , I took a look at the projects and the INLA one appealed to me. I just finished making the proposal linked here: CV_Proposal, and I might not be in time for the mentor review. However, please do take a look and let me know if anything needs to be changed.
Thanks!
Linking the mentors too: @theo and @zaxtax.
Thanks Aarsh. Since the deadline is in 15 min(!) you had better just submit it. Unfortunately there is no time for iteration at this point.
