Interest in GSoC 2026 - Survival Models

Hi, I’m a second-year AI Engineering student interested in applying for GSoC 2026 with PyMC.

I’ve been contributing to the PyMC ecosystem recently. My main contribution is an open PR in pymc-extras migrating the codebase from InferenceData to xarray DataTree for ArviZ 1.0 compatibility (PR #642). I also have an open PR in xarray related to async zarr loading (PR #11149).

I’m interested in the Survival Models project. Before writing my proposal I wanted to ask: do my contributions to pymc-extras count as a valid PR for the “Getting started” requirement, or would you prefer I also open a PR in the main PyMC or PyTensor repository?

Thanks!

Hi Alexiss, welcome to the community.

Yes, contributions to extras count and are very welcome.
